hi john.

do you accept commissions? i use some of your old skins and i'd be interested in requesting some modifications. if so, could you please get in touch so we could discuss prices and payment methods?

thank you.

Hi John.

thank you for taking the time off work to get back to me so quickly, i really appreciate it. I'm also glad to read that you're doing well with your work; I truly hope you're doing something that you love.

I tried modifying a few skins to make them compatible with Win8, and occasionally succeeded. but there is no definite, up-to-date guide on WB skinning that i could find and i got very strange results with some of my modifications. for instance, on a skin which has a start menu section that's way too large, reducing it to the precise size required to cover that area had the result that the replacement texture was stretched so that it covered precisely the same area as the (much larger) one that was used before. that's just a sample of some of the oddities i stumbled on, so i decided to engage someone who's experienced in this kind of work.

ok, so.

i really like your plastic fantastic skins, but from what i can see from the screenshot

those color substiles/additional features never made it to the windowblinds versions.

so, the first job I'd like for you to do is to make available those substyles and features.

The second job's about the christmas version of PlasFan, which has a red theme but with a white wave (representing snow, I gather), which I personally don't like. could you make that red version available as a substyle of plasfan or would you be forced to keep it as a different skin? obviously my own preference would be for a red substyle, In any case, i'd like for you to remove the white wave.

Finally, the third job would be the PlasFan Winamp skin, which only comes in red, therefore matching the xmas WB version perfectly but not the others. i'd like winamp skin substyles matching each of the color schemes in the windowblinds version.

As for your compensation: I don't intend to offend you by offering an amount which would not be representative of the time and effort you'd be putting in for this. Therefore, how about giving some thought to what you feel would be fair compensation for your work and send me a quote, and we'll take if from there, ok?

as an aside, and in addition to the jobs above, there's a great number of skins I like but which are now abandonware, and I would love for them to be updated so they can be used on Windows 8+, would you be interested in bringing other people's work up to date?

This last, I should point out, is a completely separate issue, and turning it down would not be a deal-breaker concerning the PlasFan issues.

Let me know your thoughts on all this
All the best
Neil Thomas, Lpndon
